Odour Assessments

NWSS is able to give you the most appropriate odour assessment for your situation, from an existing installation with a history of problems, to a proposed installation with the potential for an odour impact. The variety of possible approaches is listed below:

  • Undertaking screening assessments by incorporating walk-through surveys where no assessment has previously been carried out
  • Assessing odour impacts through community response assessments; e.g. odour diaries, attitude surveys and complaint histories
  • Modelling predictive odour values, using AERMOD, from the sources and the likely concentrations at surrounding receptors
  • Providing quantitative odour monitoring for use in impact assessments or for checking compliance with Emission Limit Values (ELVs) and abatement performance
  • Assessing odour control measures developing Odour Management Plans and assessing whether controls and abatement measures meet the Best Available Techniques (BAT) benchmark standard
